Goddess of the toilet (lyrics by Uemura Kana, English translation by me)

(Goddess of the toilet)

Since I was 3rd grade,

I was living with my grandma.

She lived next door to my family home, but

I was living with her.

I helped her every day

I played 'connect five game' with her too.

However, I hated to clean the toilet.

One day my grandma told me,

"In the toilet, there lives a very very beautiful

Goddess."

So if you keep it clean every day,

you will be as beautiful as her.

Since that day, I began to clean

the toilet.

I polished it every day.

beause I wanted to be so.

When I went out shopping with her, we tasted 'Kamonan'
(Japanese noodle topping with roasted duck) together.

When she failed to record my favourite 'Shinkigeki'
(TV comedy show)

I got angry and cried over her fault.

In the toilet, there lives a very very beautiful

Goddess

So if you keep it clean every day,

you will be as beautiful as her.

When I grow up, I had a quarrel with her.

I had the same with my family too
and did not know what to do.

I did not go back home even on holidays
and I used to play with my boyfriend

No more 'Kamonan' nor 'connect five game'
between us.

I don't know why people injure each other

losing the dearest ones

I went away from my dearest grandma

who had always taken my part.

Two years after I went to Tokyo,

My grandma entered the hospital.

She got so thin and lean.

I went to see her to the hospital.

"I'm home! My grandma!"

I said like I used to, but she said

"You've gotta go home." and I was pushed
out of the room after a minute.

The next morning,

she went to her final rest.

as if she had been waiting for me

to come.

She brought me up very well
but I haven't even say thank you,

I was not a good grand daughter but

she was waiting for me.

"In the toilet, there lives a very very beautiful

Goddess."

Do those words of grandma

make me so beautiful?

"In the toilet, there lives a very very beautiful

Goddess."

So if you keep it clean every day,

you'll be as beautiful as her.

As I dreamed to be

an amiable bride,

I polish the toilet every day even now.

My grandma,

My grandma, Thank you so much

My grandma

Thank you very very

much.
